Digital Economy,Technological Innovation,and Rural Revitalization:A Study Based on Mediating Effects and Threshold Effects

Abstract
Rural revitalization is one of the foundations for China's comprehensive revitalization,and the development of the digital economy is pivotal to achieving it.This study utilizes panel data from 31 provincial administrative regions in China from 2013 to 2021,employing the entropy-TOPSIS method to assess the comprehensive indices of rural revitalization,digital economy,and technological innovation.The findings of the study demonstrate that the digital economy exerts a significant influence on the process of rural revitalization.This conclusion remains valid even when controlling for relevant variables and conducting additional endogeneity and robustness tests.Further analysis using a threshold effect model reveals a"dual-threshold effect"in the process by which the digital economy promotes rural revitalization.Furthermore,the employment of an intermediary effect model to investigate the pathway through which the digital economy influences rural revitalization indicates that the digital economy can drive rural revitalization by enhancing regional technological innovation capabilities.The digital economy's promoting effect on rural revitalization varies significantly across different regions due to regional disparities,with the eastern region being the least affected by the digital economy.关键词
