Abstract
The depth,thickness,velocity,and density jump across the mantle transition zone discontinuities offer essential constraints on the Earth's interior's temperature,compositional component,and dynamical evolution.We collect seismic data from 663 seismic stations in Alaska,and present an investigation of the thickness and the S-wave velocity jump across the 660 km discontinuity by multiband P660s/P/P amplitudes.Our inversions show that the transition width and the shear velocity jump are(1.66 km,5.95%)for the 660 km discontinuity in Alaska.The S-wave velocity jump indicates a 10%~20%basalt fraction near the 660 km discontinuity,and the bottom of the mantle transition zone is enriched in harzburgite.The 660 km discontinuity is post-spinel transition-dominated.关键词
