Analytical calculation of relief mass flow rate for dry saturated steam

Abstract
Due to the unique properties of water vapor,the calculation formula for mass flow rate during overpressure relief of steam differs from that of general compressed gases.Based on the evolution of the Napier equation for calculating the mass flow rate of dry saturated steam during overpressure relief,this paper proposes a theoretical model for steam overpressure relief mass flow rate.The theoretical model is compared with the calculation formula specified in ISO 4126-7:2013.Results show that when the relief pressure is low(<0.135 MPa),the use of the Napier equation causes significant deviations and requires correction.For relief pressures between 0.135~14.0 MPa,the deviation between the Napier equation and the theoretical model(ISO 4126-7:2013 calculation)remains within±3%.When the relief pressure ranges from 14.0~21.5 MPa,the calculated values with the modified coefficient deviate from the theoretical model by less than±3%.For relief pressures exceeding 21.5 MPa,the deviation between the modified Napier equation and ISO 4126-7:2013 calculations exceeds 3%,reaching up to 9%.This research provides correction methods for the Napier equation in different pressure ranges and establishes a relief pressure versus steam pressure coefficient relationship curve based on ISO 4126-7:2013 data,offering references for engineering applications.关键词
