Abstract

An analytical method for the determination of fluorine(F),chlorine(Cl)and bromine(Br)contents in automotive gasoline by tube furnace combustion-ion chromatography was established.The samples were combusted at high temperature in a tube furnace and analyzed by ion chromatography.The results showed that the mass concentrations of fluoride,chloride and bromide ions were linearly related to the corresponding peak areas within the range of 0.1 to 2.00 mg/L.The relative standard deviations(RSDs)of the peak areas of fluoride,chloride and bromide ions were 1.8%,2.1%and 1.9%,respectively.The spiked recovery experiments were carried out by adding mixed standard solutions of fluoride,chloride and bromide ions to the absorption liquid,and the recovery rates were in the range of 93.0%to 96.0%.The results of the method for determining the chlorine content in automotive gasoline are basically consistent with those obtained by the oxidative microcoulometric method.
