Time Response of a Microchannel Plate X-Ray Detector

Abstract
The time response performance is an extremely important parameter index of the microchannel plate(MCP)detector used in the detection of weak X-ray signals and other fields.To analyze the parameters affecting the detector's time performance,a CST-based simulation model of the MCP-type X-ray detector is established to investigate the effects of inter-MCP voltage,MCP-anode voltage,and spacing on temporal characteristics.The simulation results show that the smaller electrode spacing and higher voltages improve time response characteristics.Under optimized conditions,higher interstage voltages enhance time performance until charge saturation occurs.Considering the charge saturation effect,the operating voltage of the MCP is set at 750 V to 850 V,and the voltage between the MCP and the anode is configured to 300-550 V in practical applications.关键词
