Abstract

Radioxenon isotopes are an important monitoring content of the International Monitoring System.The β-γ coincidence method based on plastic scintillator detectors and high-purity germanium detectors is widely used in the measurement of radioactive xenon isotopes,and high-resolution plastic scintillator detectors are a focus of current research in this field.In this paper,the energy resolution of plastic scintillator detectors is studied based on Geant4 simulation.It is found that the statistical fluctuation of fluorescence photons is the main factor affecting the energy resolution of plastic scintillator detectors.Then,the design of a rectangle plastic scintillator detector based on SiPM array is proposed.Compared with the traditional plastic scintillator detector with PMT readout,the simulated energy resolution of new designed SiPM-based detector improves about 30%.The SiPM-based detector meets the requirements of 131mXe and 133mXe measurement and is of guiding significance for the development of high-resolution scintillator detectors.
