Assessment and analysis of body composition and characteristics of fat and muscle in healthy young men from different regions

Abstract
Objective To assess the body composition and characteristics of fat and muscle in healthy young men from different regions.Methods Bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to measure the body composition of 100 healthy young men from different regions of China.SPSS 27.0 statistical software was used for data processing.Results The 100 healthy young men had an average age of(19.33±1.58)years,body mass of(68.20±13.10)kg,and height of(172.25±6.79)cm.According to their body mass index,up to 51%of healthy young men had abnormal body mass,of which 14%were underweight,26%were overweight,and 11%were obese.Statistically significant differences were recorded in terms of height,body mass,total body water(TBW),protein,mineral,fat-free mass(FFM),skeletal muscle mass(SMM),soft lean mass(SLM),body cell mass(BCM),bone mineral content(BMC),basal metabolic rate(BMR),upper-arm circumference(AC)and upper-arm muscle circumference(AMC)among the healthy young men from tropical and temperate regions(P<0.05).Conclusion Only half of the healthy young men have a normal body mass.Furthermore,the young men from tropical regions have significantly less TBW,protein,mineral,FFM,SMM,SLM,BCM,BMC,BMR,AC and AMC than the young men from temperate regions.Differences in body composition values in healthy young men from different regions may be related to factors such as environment,diet,genetics,and physical exercise in different regions.关键词
