Effect of Maize-soybean Intercropping Pattern on Photosynthetic Physiological Characteristics and Yield of Soybean under Intermembrane Cultivation

Abstract
This study used the 3-5 cm precision sowing cultivation technology on the membrane side toexplore the regulatory effects of different intercropping patterns of maize and soybean on the photo-synthetic physiological characteristics and yield of soybean.The findings are of great significance for the promotion of inter-membrane maize-soybean strip intercropping planting and high-yield cultivation technology in northern Shaanxi Province.From 2022 to 2023,six treatments were set up using inter-membrane cultivation technology:maize monoculture(CJCJ),soybean monoculture(control,SJSJ),and four different maize-soybean intercropping patterns:2 rows of maize with 2 rows of soybean(2C2S),2 rows of maize with 4 rows of soybean(2C4S),4 rows of maize with 2 rows of soybean(4C2S),and 4 rows of maize with 4 rows of soybean(4C4S).These treatments aimed to investigate the intercropping effects on the photosynthetic physiological characteristics and yield of soybeans un-der inter-membrane cultivation.The results showed that during the 2-year period,compared with the control SJSJ treatment,under 2C4S treatment,the plant height of soybean increased at the flowering and podding stages;the relative chlorophyll content increased in all periods;the net photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,inter-cellular CO2 concentration,and transpiration rate of soybean at the flowering stage increased by 375%to 13.58%,5.88%to 37.93%,0.84%to 9.98%,and 8.89%to 14.48%,respectively;and the dry matter mass of the aboveground part of the soybean at the pod-forming stage also increased.The 2C4S treatment had the highest population yield in 2022 and 2023,which increased by 3.93 times and 5.04 times compared with the SJSJ treatment.Furthermore,the 2C4S treatment had the largest land equivalent ratio,making the most favorable intercropping mode for maximizing intercropping advantages and improving the land utilization.In conclusion,among the various intercropping patterns of maize and soybean,the 2C4S treatment improves photosynthetic characteristics of soybean leaves during the flowering period,promotes the accumulation of dry matter in the aboveground part of soybeans,effectively improves land resources utilization,increases land pro-ductivity,and enhances the total yield of the crops in the cropping system.Therefore,it is suitable for adoption in northern Shaanxi Province.关键词
