Abstract
In order to improve the breeding survival rate and population number of blue-and-yellow macaws,and ensure their healthy growth,the breeding process of a pair of blue-and-yellow macaws raised in Qingdao Zoo was discussed,and the behavior changes of turning and cooling eggs in the natural incubation process of parent birds were observed.And the feeding amount and feeding methods of nestlings under artificial brooding conditions were discussed,as well as the prevention and treatment of various common diseases of parrots.The results showed that the natural incubation time of the blue-and-yellow macaw was 24～30 days,the eggs were turned 2～3 times per hour during the natural incubation process,and the cooling behavior mainly occurred from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm every day.The iron nest box is reasonably designed,strong and durable,and meets the breeding needs of parent birds.Providing diversified feeds with comprehensive nutrition and improving the level of daily feeding and management can effectively prevent the occurrence of diseases.It shows that the natural incubation and artificial brooding of blue-and-yellow macaws could improve the breeding survival rate and population number of parrots.关键词
