Abstract

To explore cultivation techniques for shallow and directional high-efficiency production of Chinese yam(Dioscorea opposite Thunb.),this study established two treatments in plastic greenhouses:slope surface coverage with straw and thermal blankets(FG)versus non-coverage control(CK).The research investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of soil temperature variation in directional trough and explored temperature effects on leaf physiological properties and tuber characteristics.Results demonstrated that during the tuber expansion stage,the FG treatment effectively reduced diurnal variation amplitude of maximum,minimum,and average soil temperatures in the directional trough.This coverage significantly increased chlorophyll content in aboveground leaves while decreasing proline and soluble protein levels.Additionally,it reduced malondialdehyde(MDA)content and antioxidant enzyme activities(POD,SOD,APX).Furthermore,the temperature-modulating coverage decreased tuber deformity rate and crude fiber content,while significantly enhancing protein,amylose,and total sugar contents in tubers.These findings suggest that straw and thermal blanket coverage effectively optimizes soil thermal conditions and improves both physiological metabolism and tuber quality in Chinese yam cultivation.
