A study on the correlation between the core competencies and social support of institutional caregivers

Abstract
Objective Study on the current status of core competency among institutional elderly care workers in Guizhou prov-ince,analyze its influencing factors,with emphasis on the correlation with social support,thereby providing a reference for the cultiva-tion of talent in elderly care programs at universities and colleges.Methods A convenience sampling method was employed to ad-minister questionnaires to 938 institutional elderly care workers in Guizhou Province.The survey instruments included the Elderly Care Workers' Core Competency Evaluation Questionnaire and the Social Support Rating Scale.Results The total score of core com-petency for institutional elderly care nurses was(118.46±14.22),while the total score of social support was(43.48±9.03).The core competency of institutional elderly care nurses was positively correlated with the total score of social support and various dimen-sions.The differences in gender,years of work,graduation majors,social support,and scores of the subjective support and support uti-lization dimensions are statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The core competencies of institutional elderly care workers are at an above-average level.By strengthening the formulation of scientific training programs and building a positive social support system,cultivate high-quality professionals in elderly care nursing.the core competencies of elderly care workers can be comprehen-sively enhanced.关键词
