Effects of different potassium application rates on the growth and fruit quality of facility watermelon

Abstract
In order to study the effects of different potassium application rates on the growth and fruit quality of watermelon in Shihezi area of Xinjiang,Huangxiaoyu watermelon was used as the test material,and four levels of potassium application(K2O gradient)were set up under facility cultivation,namely 0 kg·hm-2(CK),180 kg·hm-2(K1),360 kg·hm-2(K2),540 kg·hm-2(K3).The chlorophyll content of leaves(SPAD value),stem diameter,mineral element content,single fruit mass,fruit shape index and fruit quality of watermelon were compared.The results showed that under the facility cultiva-tion,compared with CK,K2 treatment had the best effect on improving the SPAD value of watermelon leaves,the content of N,P and K in fruits,the single fruit mass,central soluble solids content and peripheral soluble solids content,the content of flesh pigment and reducing the acidity of fruits.K3 treatment had the best effect on improving the firmness of flesh and flesh color brightness.K2 and K3 treatments increased the stem diameter of watermelon to varying degrees.In summary,a potassium fertilizer application rate of 360 kg·hm-2 is the most suitable for facility watermelon,and can be used as the optimal choice for efficient potassium fertilizer application for facility watermelon in Shihezi,Xinjiang.关键词
