摘要

Abstract

[Objective]By assessing the spatial and non-spatial structure of Chinese fir stands and determining the current state of stand structure across different age groups,a solid theoretical foundation is established for formulating precise and scientific measures to optimize stand structure and manage the stand.[Method]Focusing on the Chinese fir forest of the Fushou state-owned forest farm in Pingjiang County,Yueyang City,Hunan Province,and drawing from the data collected from 30 standard plots,18 significant indicators for both the non-spatial and spatial structures of forest stands were chosen,encompassing Margalef richness index,Gini coefficient,diameter distribution skewness,size coefficient of variation,mean size differentiation index,Simpson diversity index,Shannon-Wienerindex,Pielou uniformity index,tree species spatial diversity index,uniform angle index,aggregation index,open degree,size ratio,simple mixing degree,complete mingling degree,storey index,angle competition index,spatial density index.Using principal component analysis,we established a minimum dataset for evaluating stand structure indicators.Through common factor variance,we determined the weights of the indicators to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the stand structure of the Chinese fir forest and identify the current status of stand structure across different age groups.[Result]1)The comprehensive dataset for evaluating stand structure underwent principal component analysis,ultimately,six indicators,namely complete mingling degree,spatial density index,angle competition index,mean size differentiation index,Uniform angle index and Storey index were selected to form the minimum dataset.Through linear regression analysis,a significant positive was observed with R2=0.734 9 between the total data set and the minimum data set,suggesting that the latter could serve as a viable alternative to evaluate the stand structure of Chinese fir forest in Fushou forest farm;2)The composite scores for young,middle-aged,near-mature,mature,and over-mature stands of Chinese fir are 0.325 9,0.361 4,0.397 1,0.433 0 and 0.416 6,respectively.The stands of five age groups belonged to levels Ⅱ and Ⅲ.In general,the stand structure of Chinese fir forests in the study area falls short of an ideal state,and was in a poor to average state.The forest layer is relatively simple,the forest exhibits a modest stand structure with a low species diversity and the degree of mixed tree species is low.Yet,competition among trees is minimal,and the growth of the target tree is basically in a dominant position.There's no pronounced size differentiation among the trees,and the spatial distribution pattern is satisfactory,adhering to a uniform and nearly random distribution.In light of the current stand structure in the research area,it is imperative to adopt scientific management practices.Conduct appropriate selective cutting of Chinese fir trees within the forest stand and promptly replant suitable native broadleaf species to enhance the current forest stand structure.[Conclusion]The evaluation results of the stand structure for five age groups of Chinese fir forests in the research area objectively evaluate the current state of stand structure,underscoring the scientific nature of employing the minimum dataset for stand structure evaluation.This approach offers a fresh perspective for stand structure assessment.
