Abstract

[Objective]The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of different artificial forest gap areas on the microenvironment,soil physicochemical properties and enzyme activity in a Pinus massoniana plantation,and to provide a reference for the transformation of Pinus massoniana plantations into near-natural forest gaps.[Method]A 29-year-old Pinus massoniana plantation was used as the research object.Forest gaps of 50 m2(T1),100 m2(T2),200 m2(T3)and 400 m2(T4)were set in the forest.No forest gap(CK)was taken as the control.Schima superba was interplanted in the forest gaps to analyze the effects of different treatments on the forest gap microenvironment and soil enzyme activity,and the comprehensive soil quality was evaluated.[Result]The daily changes of photosynthetic photon flux density in each season of the five treatments were close to the standard normal distribution curve,and the peaks of photosynthetic photon flux density in each season appeared at 12:00-14:00.The maximum values of photosynthetic photon flux density in spring(March),summer(July),autumn(September),and winter(December)were 759.4,1 977.0,1 637.0,and 446.3 μmol·m-2·s-1,respectively,achieved by the T4 treatment.The average daily photosynthetic photon flux density in each season was the highest in the T4 treatment and the lowest in the CK treatment.Except for autumn,the relative air temperature curves of each treatment were unimodal convex,and the relative air temperature peaks of each treatment appeared at 12:00-14:00.The highest relative temperatures in spring,summer,autumn,and winter were 25.7,44.5,45.2,and 16.5℃,respectively,achieved by the T4 treatment.The average daily relative air temperature in each season was the highest in the T4 treatment and the lowest in the CK treatment.Except for winter,the daily relative humidity curves of each treatment were close to a single peak concave shape.The highest daily relative humidity in summer and autumn was 79.8%and 62.4%in T1 treatment at around 8:00,respectively.The average daily relative humidity in each season was the highest in CK treatment and the lowest in T4 treatment.Under the forest gap treatment,the height and ground diameter of young seedlings of Schima superba were higher than those under the CK treatment in all seasons.The average soil urease and peroxidase activities of the five treatments were the highest in T2 treatment,and the lowest in T4 and CK treatments;the sucrase and cellulase activities were the highest in T1 treatment,and the lowest in T3 and CK treatments;the catalase activity was the highest in CK treatment,and the lowest in T2 treatment.The comprehensive soil quality index was T2(0.62),T3(0.34),T1(0.16),CK(-0.40),and T4(-0.71)from large to small.[Conclusion]The T2 treatment had a good effect on the near-natural transformation of Pinus massoniana plantations,and was helpful to the restoration and improvement of soil quality in Pinus massoniana plantations.
