Study on the Effects of Resin Infiltration Time on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon Fiber Plain Weave Laminated Composites

Abstract
Resin infiltration time is an important parameter in the liquid molding process of composites.This study aimed to investigate the effects of resin infiltration time on the properties of carbon fiber plain weave lami-nated composites(CFPWLC).CFPWLC samples with different resin void volume fractions were prepared by controlling different infiltration times(2 hours,4 hours,6 hours),and their out-of-plane/in-plane compression mechanical properties were analyzed.The results indicated that the influence of infiltration time on the discharge zone was more significant than that on the feeding zone.From 2 to 6 hours,the mass and out-of-plane/in-plane strength of the material in the discharge area increased by 4.47%,53.02%and 63.58%respectively.The fail-ure morphology changed from interlaminar failure to shear failure.In addition,the sample defects were observed by using the surface topography of super depth of field,and it was found that the defects were mainly concentrat-ed on the interweaving of warp and weft yarns.These findings provided an important reference for optimizing the preparation process of composite materials.关键词
