"癃""淋"名实及源流考略
Nomenclature and Connotation of"Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)and A Probe into Their Headstream and Development
摘要
Abstract
The disease names of"Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)discussed in ancient books have been confused for a long time.By com-bing the ancient and modern textual research,this paper makes a new one on the origin of the disease names and clarifies the relation-ship between the words"Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)in Chinese character pattern,pronunciation,connotation and usage.By examina-tion of the classics,it is found that"Long"(((痊)))"Long"(癃)as well as"Lin"(痳)"Lin"(淋)are two groups of terms as ancient and modern words."Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)all derived from"Long"((痊))yet both had their own development sequence.Before the Southern and Northern Dynasty,"Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)were similar to each other in pronunciation and meaning,and there was almost no difference between them in usage.Hereafter,the pronunciation and connotation of the two characters had changed,but they were still used as synonyms for each other either by following previous generations or being used to express related concepts in medical books.Doctors from the Ming and Qing Dynasty clearly stated that the difference between the two lies in the presence or ab-sence of painful urination,and it has been used to this day."Long"(癃)and"Lin"(淋)have developed from the early general ex-pression of abnormal urination to the later clarification of their respective characteristics,showing a trend of gradual refinement of medi-cal concepts and the infiltrating of it in medical practice.关键词
