Abstract

Comprehensive evaluation on cold-tolerant traits of peanut at germination stage is an important basis for screening of cold-tolerant peanut resources and phenotypic identification of gene mining.Ten cold-tolerant families and ten cold-intolerant families from the RIL population of Silihong × Jinonghei3 were used in this study to conduct the comprehensive evaluation of nine traits in early field sowing and nine traits in sim-ulated low-temperature experiment in the laboratory.Through principal component analysis,a total of four principal components were extracted under early field sowing conditions,and the cumulative contribution rate was 84.064%,which could comprehensively represent most of the information from the original indicators,and finally screened out the traits of relative emergence rate,relative main stem height,relative number of full fruits per plant,and relative number of blight fruits per plant as core indicators to evaluate the cold toler-ance of peanuts under field conditions.Under indoor simulated low temperature conditions,a total of four principal components were extracted,and the cumulative contribution rate was 83.619%,which could com-prehensively represent most of the information from the original indicators,and the relative emergence rate,relative root length,relative underground fresh mass,and relative underground dry mass were finally selected as the core indicators.Through the evaluation,three cold-tolerant germplasm resources were identified,which can be used as important materials for genetic breeding research.After cold stress treatment,the selected cold-tolerant strain R-414 showed a significant increase in antioxidant enzyme activity and a slight increase in malondialdehyde content comparing with the cold-intolerant strain R-395,indicating that the cold-tolerant strain R-414 showed strong antioxidant properties against the cold stress.It was also verified that the principal components extracted in the early growth stage can accurately identify the cold-tolerant peanut resources.
