Relationship between father's phubbing and adolescent smartphone addiction:mediating effect of adolescent depression

Abstract
Objective To investigate the impact of father's phubbing on adolescent smartphone addiction,and explore the mediating role of adolescent depression.Methods A survey was conducted on 1 925 high school students by using father's phubbing scale,the center for epidemiologic studies depression scale(CES-D),and the smartphone addiction scale-short version(SAS-SV).The relevant data were statistically analyzed.Results The detection rate of smartphone addiction was 56.05%.The correlation analysis revealed that the father's phubbing was significantly positively correlated with adolescent depression and smartphone addiction(P<0.01).The bias-corrected percentile Bootstrap test showed that the direct effect of father's phubbing on adolescent smartphone addiction was 0.27(95%CI:0.22-0.31);adolescent depression partially mediated the relationship between father's phubbing and adolescent smartphone addiction,with a mediation effect of 0.06(95%CI:0.04-0.07),accounting for 18.75%of the total effect.Conclusion Father's phubbing not only influences adolescent smartphone addition directly,but also contributes to adolescent smartphone addiction through adolescent depression.关键词
