Abstract

The hydrophobic dehydroabietic acid-grafted poly(methyl methacrylate)(DA-PMMA)was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP)using dehydroabietic acid initiator(DA-Br)and methyl methacrylate(MMA)as raw materials.Subsequently,the amphiphilic random copolymer(DA-PMMA-PMA)was obtained by introducing polymethacrylic acid(PMA)segments through acid hydrolysis,and the fluorescent DA-PMMA-PMA micelles were successfully prepared by solution self-assembly.The chemical structure and polymerization process were thoroughly characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H NMR),ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),and gel permeation chromatography(GPC).The experimental results showed that the polymerization process of DA-PMMA followed first-order kinetics law and the reaction process had good controllability.The relative molecular weight of the polymer gradually increased with the extension of reaction time,and the polydispersity index(PDI)remained below 1.2,demonstrating excellent molecular weight uniformity.The DA-PMMA-PMA copolymer formed after acid hydrolysis was self-assembled into uniform micelles in solution,with a hydrodynamic diameter of about 79 nm and a distinct fluorescence emission peak at 405-430 nm.The results of UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy analysis indicated that the introduction of dehydroabietic acid endowed DA-PMMA and DA-PMMA-PMA with significant UV absorption and fluorescence characteristics.
