Effects of Edaravone and borneol as adjuvant therapy on microcirculation and serum NO and SOD levels in patients with basilar artery perforator cerebral infarction

Abstract
Aim To investigate the effects of Edaravone and borneol as adjuvant therapy on microcirculation and serum nitric oxide(NO),and superoxide dismutase(SOD)levels in patients with basilar artery perforator cerebral infarction.Methods A total of 96 patients with basilar artery perforator cerebral infarction were randomly divided into recombinant tissue-type plasminogen ac-tivator(rt-PA)group and combined group.The rt-PA group was treated with rt-PA,while the combined group received Edaravone and borneol as adjuvant therapy on the basis of rt-PA treatment.Clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Hemorheological indicators(plasma viscosity,high-shear whole blood viscosity,platelet adhesion rate),NO and SOD levels,national institutes of health stroke scale(NIHSS)scores,and modified Barthel index(MBI)scores were compared before and after treatment between the two groups.Results There were no statistically significant differences in clinical efficacy and adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,plasma viscosity,high-shear whole blood viscosity,platelet adhesion rate,NO levels,and NIHSS scores were decreased in both groups(P<0.05),with the combined group being lower than the rt-PA group(P<0.05);SOD levels and MBI scores were increased in both groups(P<0.05),with the combined group being higher than the rt-PA group(P<0.05).Conclusion Edaravone and borneol as adjuvant therapy can improve microcirculation in patients with basilar artery perforator cerebral infarction,regulate serum NO and SOD levels,reduce systemic oxidative stress response,and promote recovery of neurological function and daily living abilities.关键词
