收入不平等对农村儿童教育支出的影响研究
A Study on the Impact of Income Inequality on Educational Expenditure for Rural Children:Based on Panel Data from CFPS

Abstract
Income divergence has fueled the rise and intensification of educational competition in rural areas.Using panel data from the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)spanning from 2012 to 2020,this paper empirically examines the impact of income inequality on educational expenditures for rural children and explores its underlying mechanisms.The findings show that in-creased income inequality leads rural parents to spend more on their children's education.On av-erage,a 1％increase in the Gini coefficient results in a significant 3.42％increase in educational spending per child.Further analysis reveals that this effect is mainly realized through the incentive mechanism of"jumping up"and the pressure mechanism of"fear of falling down",especially in the perception of rural mothers.Additionally,to cope with income distribution inequality,families that migrate to urban areas for work increase their children's education spending more than those that stay in rural areas;rural parents also significantly increase girls' education expenses compared to boys'.This paper not only provides a new perspective on understanding the"educa-tion investment fever"in rural areas,but also offers important insights for governments at all levels to develop relevant policies aimed at reducing the private educational burden on rural households.关键词
