Exploring the salinization of the first confined groundwater in Shanghai based on hydrochemical composition and environmental isotopes

Abstract

In the development of underground spaces in Shanghai,the first confined groundwater of deep foundation pits with a depth of more than 15m will generally surge.When the waterproof curtain cannot effectively separate it,it is generally necessary to carry out dewatering and pressure reduction treatment on the confined groundwater of this layer.Since 2010,the water quality of the first confined groundwater has undergone salinization,and the mutual influence of the first confined groundwater and surrounding environment has become increasingly profound.This article takes the first confined groundwater in Shanghai as the main research object,and explores the salinization of confined groundwater quality through hydrochemical composition and environmental isotopes.The paper first classifies hydrochemistry according to Shukalev,and further analyzes the characteristics of hydrochemical components based on Piper and Gibbs plots;Secondly,the relationship between hydrogen(δ2H)and oxygen(δ18O)isotopes and atmospheric precipitation lines is explored,and the source of groundwater salinization is further explored by combining chlorine(δ37Cl)isotopes with land data and hydrogeological conditions.Research has shown that the first confined groundwater in Shanghai is mainly composed of 49-B,exhibiting characteristics of absolute dominance of NaCl and absolute dominance of Cl-.Preliminary inference based on hydrogen(δ2H)and oxygen(δ18O)isotopes suggests the presence of atmospheric precipitation in the first confined groundwater source.Based on the isotopes of chlorine(δ37Cl),it is preliminarily inferred that seawater was also present in the first source of confined groundwater.Combined with the data of the Shanghai Formation,it is preliminarily inferred that the initial source of saline water may be seawater from the Shanghai Land Formation period.At the same time,a preliminary exploration has been conducted on the sources of further salinization of confined groundwater over the past 10 years.
