Analysis of the Needs for Out-of-Hospital Self-Care Guidance in Xerophthalmia Patients Based on the Kano Model

Abstract
Objective To analyze the needs for out-of-hospital self-care guidance in xerophthalmia patients based on the Kano model.Methods A total of 154 xerophthalmia patients admitted to the ophthalmology clinic at Yichun People's Hospital from January to December 2023 were selected by convenience sampling.A Kano model-based questionnaire was designed to investigate their needs for out-of-hospital self-care guidance;then,the proportion of each need type and Better-Worse coefficients were analyzed;finally,a four-quadrant Better-Worse matrix was constructed to identify the most urgent and critical needs for self-care guidance.Results The needs for out-of-hospital self-care guidance were categorized as follows:42.86%attractive,35.71%must-be,14.29%one-dimensional,and 7.14%indifferent.The four-quadrant Better-Worse matrix revealed 6 attractive needs(timely Q&As,video/text guidance by dedicated healthcare providers,etc.),2 one-dimensional needs(disease prevention knowledge and comfort for negative emotions),1 indifferent need(exercise guidance)and 5 must-be needs(medication guidance,eye hygiene education,etc.).Conclusion The Kano model effectively identifies the needs for out-of-hospital self-care guidance in xerophthalmia patients.In clinical practice,healthcare providers should prioritize must-be needs,followed by one-dimensional needs;they should also discuss attractive needs but appropriately reduce indifferent needs.This tiered approach aims to address the needs for out-of-hospital self-care guidance in xerophthalmia patients and enhance nursing satisfaction.关键词
