摘要
Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of virtual reality(VR)technology on elderly patients with cognitive impairment. Methods Articles regarding the application of VR technology in elderly patients with cognitive impairment were searched online in Cochrane Library,PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CINAHL,Medline,ProQuest,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP and CBMdisc from their establishment to December 19,2023.Two independent investigators screened articles, extracted data and conducted Meta-analyses using RevMan 5.4.Results A total of 16 randomized controlled studies were included, involving 899 patients.According to Meta-analysis results, the observation group exhibited higher cognitive function compared to the control group, evidenced by Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)[MD=3.05,95%CI(1.68-4.43),P<0.001]and Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)[MD=6.08,95%CI(1.58-10.58),P=0.008];the observation group exhibited higher self-care ability compared to the control group[MD=3.42,95%CI(1.82-5.02),P<0.001];the observation group exhibited lower depression levels compared to the control group, evidenced by Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS)[MD=-1.50,95%CI(-2.18 to-0.83),P<0.001],Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia(CSDD)[MD=-1.14,95%CI(-1.60 to-0.67),P<0.001]and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)[MD=-4.00,95%CI(-7.26 to-0.75),P=0.02];the comparison of quality of life between groups remained inconclusive. Conclusion VR technology has positive effects on cognitive function, depression and self-care ability in elderly patients with cognitive impairment. However, its effect on quality of life requires further validation in large sample size studies.关键词
