Abstract

The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of different additives on the quality and vitamin content of mixed silage composed of alfalfa and oat.The silage was prepared by mixing alfalfa and oats in a ratio of 6∶4 and divided into four treatment groups.The control group was added with distilled water,Group A1 was added with 0.01%Enterococcus faecalis,Group A2 was added with 0.01%Lactobacillus plantarum,and Group A3 was added with 0.01%mixed bacterial agent(Enterococcus faecalis+Lactobacillus plantarum).The nutritional and fermentation qualities of the mixed silage were assessed using the V-Score evaluation system.The results showed that compared with the control group,the content of acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber in Group A2 were reduced significantly(P<0.05),significantly decreased the pH value,acetic acid,and ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen levels(P<0.05),and the lactic acid content was significantly increased(P<0.05).The concentrations of vitamin E,vitamin C and vitamin B6 were relatively high in Group A2.The study shows that adding 0.01%Lactobacillus plantarum improves the quality of mixed silage when alfalfa and oats are ensiled at a 6∶4 ratio.
