Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the genetic diversity and population structure of Alternaria alternata(the causal agent of potato brown spot)in Yunnan Province,China,to explore its distribution characteristics and evolutionary processes.Using techniques such as simple sequence re-peat(SSR)markers and Bayesian clustering analysis,we revealed the genetic variation and migration patterns of this pathogen across different geographic regions.The results showed that Alternaria al-ternata is the dominant species,with a population structure exhibiting high genetic diversity,indicating its widespread distribution in Yunnan.SSR analysis identified 42 distinct genotypes,with 54.8%ap-pearing only once,further confirming the pathogen's high genetic diversity.Additionally,cluster analy-sis based on a similarity coefficient of 0.45 divided the isolates into two groups,which were further subdivided into three subgroups at a similarity coefficient of 0.63,with Zhaotong isolates showing sig-nificant differences.UPGMA clustering results indicated that isolates from Dali and Lijiang formed one cluster,while Wenshan isolates exhibited higher genetic similarity,possibly due to potato seed tuber transportation.However,Zhaotong isolates formed an independent branch due to geographic isolation,showing significant genetic structure differences.The study concluded that the genetic structure of A.alternata is closely related to its geographic distribution,with geographic isolation being the primary factor for genetic differentiation.Additionally,potato seed tuber transportation and circulation acceler-ated gene exchange,influencing the dispersion and evolutionary processes of the pathogen.
