Post-and-core crowns are commonly used to restore teeth with significant loss of dental tissue due to caries or attrition.When repairing large root canals or teeth with funnel-shaped root canal openings,prefabricated posts often fail to perfectly adapt to these special canal shapes,which can lead to debonding.Therefore,custom posts have become an important solution to this problem.Although traditional impression techniques remain to be the primary method,the rap-id development of digital impression technology in recent years has brought innovation to custom post restoration tech-niques.This article summarizes the characteristics and application of both traditional and digital impression techniques,and looks forward to the future development of digital impression technology in the custom post restoration field,provid-ing a basis for further application of digital technology.
