Duodenal mucosal resurfacing:a new perspective on gut function optimization and the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism

Abstract
In China,over 40 million individuals with a lean or normal body type are facing the challenges of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Duodenal mucosal resurfacing(DMR),as a bridge between surgical and pharmacological treatments,demonstrates significant potential in blood glucose control and metabolic improvement.This study aims to comprehensively review the role of DMR in regulating gut-derived hormones,gut microbiota ecology,and glucose-lipid metabolism,exploring its potential in optimizing gut function and improving metabolic health.By analyzing from multiple perspectives,including the regulation of glucose-lipid metabolism by gut-derived hormones,changes in gut microbiota homeostasis,and the mechanisms of DMR,this article reviews existing clinical studies and animal experimental data obtained by the research team.The findings indicate that although DMR does not directly regulate the secretion of gut-derived hormones,it significantly modulates the composition of gut microbiota and may indirectly promote the improvement of glucose-lipid metabolism through the enhancement of gut microbiota ecology.However,current clinical studies still face challenges such as small sample sizes and insufficient exploration of underlying mechanisms.Therefore,future research should validate the specific effects of DMR on gut microbiota and metabolic health through larger-scale clinical trials and animal models,providing new options for diabetes treatment.关键词
