Abstract

Qimen County,located in southwestern Anhui Province,is characterized by complex geological conditions,high vegetation coverage,and intense human engineering activities.Geological hazards in this region are numerous,widespread,and highly concealed.To address the challenge of"identifying where hazards are located,"remote sensing technology combined with field verification was employed to detect potential geological hazards.Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)technology,capable of acquiring high-precision three-dimensional terrain data,demonstrates unique advantages in penetrating vegetation to reveal slope structures,fault cracks,and other surface features.This study explores the application of LiDAR technology to overcome limitations in the study area,such as dense vegetation cover,highly concealed hazard sites,and the difficulty of visual identification using traditional optical remote sensing techniques.LiDAR successfully identified six potential geological hazard sites in the study area.However,it exhibited poor penetration through vegetation gaps in areas with dense low shrub coverage,and deviations from the actual terrain were observed in localized regions of the digital surface model(DSM)after vegetation removal.
