Abstract

Taking sweet basil as an example,this experiment studied the effects of different nutrient solution formulas on the growth and nutri-ent content of basil in soilless culture.The hydroponic cultivation technique was adopted,and three treatments were set up:improved garden formula(T1),commercially available solid nutrient solution(T2)and improved Dutch formula(T3).The initial EC values were 2.4,2.0 and 1.2 ds/m,respectively,and the cultivation time was 30 d.After harvest,the growth,nutrient content and leaf curvature of basil under different nutrient solution formulas were determined.The results showed that plant height,leaf and root length,the dry and fresh weight of the above-ground and under-ground parts of basil showed as follows:T1>T3>T2,and the fresh weight of the above-ground and underground parts reached the maximum with T1 treatment,reaching 40.6 and 38.2 g,respectively.The nitrogen content in leaves was the highest in T1 and T3 treatments,but there was no significant difference in other elements(P,K,Ca,Mg and Na).As the curvature of growing leaves gradually decreases in T1 treatment,the curvature of growing leaves gradually increases in T2 treatment.Based on comprehensive consideration,the im-proved garden formula is the most suitable growth nutrient solution formula for hydroponic basil.
