Spatio-temporal Evolution Characteristics and Driving Factors of Carbon Sources/Sinks in Henan Province

Abstract
Henan Province has rich ecological resources and strong carbon sink capacity,so it is important to study the evolution mechanism of carbon source/sink for optimizing ecological management strategies.Based on the MODIS NPP data,meteorological data and land-use data of Henan Province from 2000 to 2020,combined with the quantitative NEP estimation model,we used the Theil-Sen trend analysis,Mann-Kendall method,correlation analysis and Hurst exponent to comprehensively calculate the NEP in Henan Province,and comprehensively analyzed its spatio-temporal evolution characteristics and driving factors.The results showed that①from 2000 to 2020,the total NEP of Henan Province pre-sented an overall fluctuating upward trend,with an average annual increase of 1.18 TgCa-1.②Most of Henan Province(95.13%)was the carbon sink area,mainly located in Taihang Mountain and Funiu Mountain in the west of Henan Province and Tongbai Mountain and Dabie Mountain in the south.The carbon source areas were mainly distributed in the built-up areas of major cities in the province,accounting for 4.87%of the total study area.③The conversion from farmland to impervious land had the most negative impact on NEP in Henan Province,indicating that human activities such as urban expansion and excessive reclamation were the main causes of NEP loss.④Although the carbon sink capacity of ecosys-tem in Henan Province was improving,and the regional carbon sink potential had an increasing trend in the future,but the development of NEP in most areas(86.03%)was uncertain.The results of this study can provide a reference for the ecological system of Henan Province to reduce emissions and increase sinks and achieve the goal of"double carbon".关键词
