Abstract

The Xuefeng arcuate tectonic belt in Hunan Province is located in the western part of the Jiangnan ancient land(Jiangnan Orogenic Belt)on the southeastern margin of the Yangtze Plate,which is one of the most important gold metallogenic belts in Hunan and even in South China.This work is based on comprehensive research data,including regional metallogenic geological background,geological characteristics of typical gold deposits in the area,geochronology of rocks and ores,sources of metallogenic materials and fluids,and ore deposit assemblages.This study systematically analyzed the regional gold metallogenic patterns and mechanisms.and further explored the genesis and metallogenic models of gold deposits in the area.It concludes that the gold deposits in the region exhibit characteristics of orogenic-type gold deposits,primarily hosted in Precambrian strata and controlled by brittle-ductile shear zones of varying scales and orders.The metallogenic materials were mainly derived from Proterozoic strata,with possible contributions from deep-source materials.The ore-forming fluids were predominantly metamorphic hydrothermal solutions,overlain by magmatic or deep-source fluids during mineralization,with later incorporation of meteoric water.The formation of gold deposits in the area was closely related to the evolution of the Xuefengshan intracontinental orogenic belt.The metallogenic processes involved the Neoproterozoic tectonic evolution of the Jiangnan Orogenic Belt-formation of gold-enriched strata,the Caledonian intracontinental orogeny-the first peak period of gold mineralization,and the late Indosinian intracontinental orogeny-the second period of gold mineralization.The research findings hold significant practical implications for enriching the metallogenic theory of gold deposits in the region,guiding future gold exploration and evaluation,supporting the development of Hunan's trillion-yuan mining industry cluster,and advancing the new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs and gold resource security.
