Abstract

Based on Biot theory,this paper investigates the impact of Damping Absorbing Boundary Condition(DABC)and Nearly Perfectly Matched Layer(NPML)on elastic wave propagation at truncated domain boundaries in poroelastic media through numerical simulation.First,the discrete forms of the wave equations under both boundary conditions are derived in polar coordinates.Extensive numerical experiments are then conducted by varying the absorption intensity parameters and the number of boundary layers.The performance of the two boundary conditions in terms of absorption effectiveness and computational efficiency is compared.The study suggests that NPML outperforms DABC in absorption effectiveness,being more efficient in absorbing direct waves from different directions and reducing the interference of reflected waves on signal acquisition.However,NPML is computationally more complex and harder to implement.In contrast,DABC is simpler to implement and more computationally efficient,though less effective in absorbing low-angle incident waves.Optimization of absorption intensity parameters and the number of boundary layers determined the optimal range for DABC's absorption intensity parameter to be between 0.0027 and 0.0052,with reflection wave amplitude reduced to 5%of the original when the number of boundary layers is increased to 25.For NPML,the optimal range of absorption intensity parameters is between 0.0001 and 0.0014,achieving better absorption with fewer boundary layers.This study provides an efficient and reliable boundary condition selection scheme for numerical simulation of elastic waves in poroelastic media,and offers valuable guidance for improving numerical methods and designing boundary conditions in enginerring applications.
