Abstract

With the rapid development of expressways in China,there are a large number of abandoned quarry slopes along the highways.These slopes have complex geological conditions,and make vegetation restoration difficult and prone to geological hazards such as falling rocks,collapses,and even debris flows,which endanger driving safety.Taking a typical abandoned granite quarry in the western Guangdong region as the research subject,this study addresses the challenges of high,steep,and fragmented slopes prone to collapse and difficulties in vegetation restoration by adopting a"one-section,one-solution"vegetation concrete ecological protection approach.The goal is to achieve ecological protection and vegetation restoration.Through on-site spray seeding tests and physicochemical property analyses of vegetation concrete,statistical analyses were conducted on indicators such as vegetation coverage rate,vegetation growth speed,and plant height.The results show that vegetation concrete has excellent water and nutrient retention capabilities.After spray seeding,the slope surface can be quickly sealed,with an unconfined compressive strength of up to 637 kPa after 28 days.Additionally,plant seeds germinate within 5~7 days,achieving 90%vegetation coverage on the slope surface after 28 days and over 95%after 45 days.Within three months,the bare slope is completely covered by vegetation.This study achieves the goals of slope protection and vegetation restoration,effectively preventing geological hazards such as slope slippage,collapse,and falling rocks,and restoring the fragile ecological environment of the granite quarry slope.
