Abstract

To explore the nitrogen removal efficiency and specific operational conditions of a sulfur autotrophic denitrification filter in treating coking wastewater,this study constructed a pilot-scale experimental system with a treatment scale of 500 L·h-1.The system focused on parameters such as hydraulic retention time and backwashing frequency,and conducted a 196 d field experiment.The actual operational results of the filter showed that it is more suitable for low-concentration(total nitrogen concentration below 50 mg·L-1)nitrogen removal.The filter demonstrated enrichment advantages for Sulfurimonas and Thiobacillus,with good nitrogen removal efficiency,low operational costs,and strong resistance to shock loads.The nitrite nitrogen concentration could be reduced to 0.7 mg·L-1,with a cumulative removal rate of up to 98.5%,and the total nitrogen concentration could be as low as 6.3 mg·L-1,with an average removal rate of 56.4%.After long-term operation,the filter media showed minimal loss and little change in composition,indicating its practical application value.
