Abstract

This study aims to clarify the effects of sowing date and seedling age on the yield and cadmium accumulation characteristics of the late rice variety'Qingliansimiao'.A single-factor randomized block design was adopted.The yields and cadmium content under three sowing dates(June 19,June 27,and July 5)and three seedling ages(22,27,and 32 days)were measured.The results are described as follows.(1)Sowing date significantly affected the rice yield and cadmium content.The yield was higher in the case of sowing in mid-to-late June but significantly decreased in the case of sowing in early July.The main factors affecting the rice yield were the number of grain per ear and seed setting rate.The cadmium accumulation in various parts was significantly reduced under early sowing treatment.(2)There was no significant difference in yield among different seedling ages,and the seedlings of a wide range of ages were suitable.The cadmium content was low in various parts in the seedling age group of 22 days.In the seedling age group of 32 days,although the cadmium content in brown rice was lower,that in stems,leaves,and husks was higher.Therefore,early sowing in mid-to-late June combined with a seedling age of about 22 days is conducive to ensuring the yield while reducing the cadmium accumulation of'Qingliansimiao'.
