摘要

Abstract

Accurate measurement and calculation of overland flow velocity are essential for understanding the hydraulics of overland flow and simulating sediment and material transport on hillslopes.This paper systematically analyzed current methods for measuring and calculating overland flow velocity and evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of each method.In the past and present,studies on overland flow velocity primarily relied on calculating surface velocity and cross-sectional average velocity from a one-dimensional perspective.The theoretical study of velocity profile is seriously insufficient.Future research should shift focus to two-dimensional and three-dimensional approaches,thereby providing theoretical support for optimizing soil erosion and hydrological models and improving the accuracy of soil erosion predictions.Furthermore,the development and accuracy of measurement methods and instruments for overland flow require further exploration and refinement.
