Abstract

Hypoplasia is a common hereditary disease in dogs.Its clinical manifestations are extreme emaciation and fat depletion in dogs.Histological examination shows multiple organ atrophy and hypoplasia.The case in the article was a male Beagle purchased during the quarantine period.It was found that its nutritional status was poor during quarantine.After a two-month breeding and observation period,there was no improvement,so it was culled.Dissection revealed that the dog had abnormal development of multiple organs.Clinical hematological examination showed that it was anemic and malnourished.Histopathological examination revealed atrophy of the thyroid gland,thymus,spleen and reproductive system,accompanied by cystic mucinous hyperplasia of the gallbladder.The comprehensive diagnosis was multiple organ atrophy or hypoplasia,suspected to be caused by congenital genetic factors,and it could not recover in the laboratory breeding environment.This case provides certain references for the quarantine standards of experimental animals,suggesting that a developmental assessment mechanism needs to be established in the animal screening stage of repeated drug administration toxicity tests.By systematically excluding individuals with incomplete development,the risk of deviation in test data can be effectively reduced.
