Preliminary study on the important trunk-boring pest of Picea crassifolia,Polygraphus polygraphus

Abstract
To effectively prevent and control Polygraphus polygraphus,the trunk-boring pest that seriously damages Picea crassifolia,the morphological characteristics,bionomics,spatial ecological niche and natural enemies of P.polygraphus were studied through investigation in forest and rearing observation indoor in the Xianmi forest area of Menyuan.The results showed that the body length and width of the female were significantly larger than those of the male,and the slope of elytra of the female was gentler than that of the male;The notch grooves of the female had obvious round,shallow and large notches,while the notches of male were sparse and shallow;In lateral view,the pronotum of the male was flatter than that of the female.P.polygraphus had one generation a year in the Xianmi forest area,and overwintered as larvae.Pupation began in early June,and the peak period of pupation was in mid-late June.The eclosion began in early July,and the peak period of eclosion was in mid-late July.The average longevity of females and males were(25.31±4.12)days and(15.24±4.43)days,respectively.P.polygraphus distributed throughout the tree trunk,and caused great damage to P.crassifolia with different heights and diameter classes,occupying a wide spatial ecological niche in vertical heights and horizontal diameter classes.The natural enemies mainly include Thanasimus substriatus and Thanasimus lewisi,both adults and larvae can prey on P.polygraphus.关键词
