Abstract

Objective:To empirically analyze the impact of health literacy on patients' medication adherence and the mediating role of self-management ability in the impact.By clarifying the path of the mediating variable of self-management ability,it may provide theoretical support for the development of more targeted and accurate prevention and control strategies for tuberculosis.Methods:A total of 217 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were admitted to a specialized hospital in Shanxi province from January 2024 to November 2024.The survey was conducted by using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale(MMAS-8),the Adult Health Self-Management Capacity Assessment Form(AH-SMSRS),and the Simplified European Health Literacy Questionnaire(HLS-EU-Q 16).Results:The health literacy of tuberculosis patients had a significant positive impact on their medication adherence.And self-management ability played a mediating role.Conclusions:There was a close association between the health literacy,self-management ability and medication adherence of tuberculosis patients.The improvement of health literacy has a positive impact on patients' medication adherence.And self-management ability plays a completely mediating role on it.Therefore,the direct goal of improving health literacy should enhance patients' self-management abilities so as to improve their medication adherence to a greater extent.
