Qualitative study on the caregiving care experience and coping strategies of caregivers of adolescent with attempted suicide and depression
摘要
Abstract
Objective:To explore the caregiving care experiences and coping strategies of caregivers of adolescent with attempted suicide and depression.Methods:In depth interviews were conducted with caregivers of 18 depressed adolescents who had attempted suicide,and to explore their caregiving experiences and coping strategies during the caregiving process.The Colaizzi 7 step method was used to analyze,summarize,and extract data.Results:Four themes were extracted:sudden impact,multiple traumas,complex and arduous caregiving challenges,attempts to adopt diverse coping strategies,but still lacking effective coping strategies.Conclusions:After suicidal behavior occurs in adolescents with depression,caregivers experience multiple traumas.Caregivers attempt to adopt diverse coping strategies to reduce adolescent suicidal behavior.However,effective coping measures are still lacking.Therefore,special attention should be paid to the needs of caregivers at present,and positive guidance and support should be provided to them.关键词
