Abstract
Based on seismic interpretation and logging data analysis,and guided by sedimentological theory,this study inves-tigates the stratigraphy,sedimentary infill,and distribution characteristics of the S5 member of the lower Miocene Agbada Formation in the southwestern Rio Del Rey Basin,Niger Delta,Cameroon.A sedimentary model was established to predict favorable exploration targets.Five sedimentary microfacies were identified in the study area:underwater distributary chan-nels,mouth bars,distal bars,sheet sands,and underwater interdistributary bays.The northern sand bodies are predomi-nantly characterized by underwater distributary channels,which gradually transition southward into mouth bars,distal bars,and sheet sands.Vertically,the sedimentary sequence exhibits a north-to-south progradation trend.During the deposition of the S5 member,subaqueous mud diapirs developed and played a controlling role in sedimentation.The low-lying areas be-tween mud diapirs acted as sediment transport channels.As overlying strata accumulated,the mud diapirs experenced differ-ential uplift.The Mokoko mud diapir exhibited weak uplift and didn̍t penetrate the S5 member,while the Abana diapir showed strong uplift and pierced the S5 member.The downthrown side of syn-sedimentary faults associated with the mud dia-pirs provided favorable conditions for sand body development.In the northern area between the diapirs,a series of fault block structures formed near sediment source channels and away from diapir-related fault zones.Additionally,oil-source faults are well developed in this region,making it a promising target for future exploration in the MA block.关键词
