Abstract

The complex salt tectonic activities in the Lower Congo-Congo Fan Basin have a significant influence on deep-water gravity-flow sedimentation and play a key role in controlling hydrocarbon accumulation.Understanding the relationship be-tween salt structures and deep-water gravity-flow deposition is crucial for achieving breakthroughs in deep-water petroleum ex-ploration in this region and holds considerable research significance.Based on seismic and well-log interpretation combined with seismic attribute analysis,this study investigates the depositional processes and characteristics of Miocene gravity-flow systems under the influence of salt structures in block A of the Lower Congo-Congo Fan Basin.The findings provide valuable insights for deep-water oil and gas exploration in the area.The results indicate that gravity-flow deposition in salt-structure-re-lated minibasins can be divided into two stages:an early filling-overflow stage and a later bypass-erosion stage.Sand-rich zones are closely associated with the position of the overflow point.The interactions between salt structures and gravity-flow channels can be categorized into seven types:redirection,restriction,blocking,migration,erosion,uplift,and truncation-each resulting in distinct sand body distribution patterns.The angle between the gravity flow direction and the axial orientation of the miniba-sin significantly affects lobe distribution:when the angle is large or nearly orthogonal,lobes tend to develop as elongated strips along the salt wall;when the angle is small or nearly parallel,lobes are more likely to form fan-shaped geometries.
