Effects of hydrogen-rich water on rice seed germination and its hormonal regulation mechanism

Abstract
[Objective]Hydrogen-rich water(HRW)is a safe,green,and environmentally friendly new plant growth regulator.This article aimed to explore the effects of HRW seed soaking treatment on rice seed germination and seedling growth and pro-vide guidance for the application of hydrogen in agriculture.[Method]Using rice seeds(Oryza sativa L.japonica)as experimen-tal material,plump seeds were soaked in HRW at concentrations of 25%,50%,75%,and 100%for 8 h,with distilled water soaking as the control treatment(CK).The seeds were then placed in a thermostatically controlled environment(28℃,80%humidity,3000 lx,16:8 light/dark cycle)for 7 d.The plants were weighed daily and replenishment of sterile water.Germina-tion-related morphological traits,growth-related biochemical indices,hormone levels,and the expression of key genes in hor-mone signaling pathways were measured to explore the mechanism of the influence of hydrogen-rich water on rice germination.[Results](1)Compared with the CK,HRW soaking significantly increased rice shoot length,root length,germination index,and vigor index,with the 50%HRW treatment showing the most pronounced effects-40.71%,10.34%,33.73%,and 10.74%,respectively.(2)At day 3,the 50%HRW treatment significantly enhanced soluble protein,total soluble sugar,glu-cose,fructose,sucrose,auxin(IAA),and gibberellin(GA)contents while reducing soluble starch content.(3)Total sugars,fructose,and sucrose levels were significantly positively correlated with germination rate,whereas abscisic acid(ABA)content showed a significant negative correlation.[Conclusion]Hydrogen-rich water soaking promoted rice seed germination,with 50%concentration being optimal.HRW enhanced germination by regulating non-structural carbohydrate metabolism and hormone balance,breaking seed dormancy and improving metabolic activity.These findings highlighted HRW's potential as an effective agricultural agent for improving rice growth.关键词
