Abstract

Terahertz Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN)is an important approach to achieving high-bandwidth,short-range wireless access.Due to the extremely narrow beam characteristics of terahertz waves,existing low-frequency wireless local area network Media Access Control(MAC)address cannot be directly applied to terahertz WLANs.To solve the problem of low channel utilization caused by the narrow beam characteristics of terahertz,a Load-Adaptive Hybrid Access MAC Protocol(LAHA-MAC)is proposed.The protocol adaptively selects the channel access method based on the number of nodes in the previous working sector.Specifically,when the number of nodes N in the sector is less than the threshold N*,a contention-based access method is adopted,ensuring high throughput and low end-to-end delay.When N exceeds N*,a schedule-based access method is used to avoid collisions between nodes and improve transmission efficiency.The mechanism also takes into account the possibility of incorrect access method selection,and it is capable of flexibly switching between access methods.When the number of collisions Ncol exceeds the threshold N*col,it switches from contention-based to schedule-based access.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism effectively improves channel utilization under dynamic network loads.
