Abstract
In contrast modern natural science,which aims to conquer nature and is rooted in rationalization,mathematization,and experimental instruments,Goethe,as a poet and natural philosopher,combined his knowledge of nature with his literary and aesthetic ideas.On the one hand,in Goethe's eyes,nature is organic and divine.Goethe emphasized the role of human senses in the study of nature,focusing on the harmony and unity of man and nature and striving to maintain the integrity of nature.He embodied the reverence for nature in the pursuit of"primitive phenomena"and the recognition of cognitive limits.On the other hand,Goethe studied nature from his interest in man,deepened his understanding of man through his knowledge of the world,and finally attempted to reach an overall understanding of the spiritual phenomena of human society.Goethe's holistic ideas about the harmony and unity of man and nature are instructive for both ecocriticism and today's criticism of technical rationality.关键词
