Abstract
This study investigates an abnormal icing event on high-voltage transmission lines in southern Shanxi through diagnostic analysis combining multivariate data(conventional observations,FNL,and ERA5 reanalysis)and model coupling.The Jones icing model was coupled with the mesoscale WRF numerical model to simulate icing thickness.Key findings include:The event was a typical freezing rain-induced icing episode,driven by a"cold-warm-cold"stratification resulting from cold-warm air mass interactions.WRF simulations of precipitation and surface winds showed good consistency with observations,validating their use as inputs.The Jones model indicated icing initiation at 00:00 on February 13,with rapid accretion(06:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00)peaking at 16.35 mm by 19:00.Despite underestimating ice thickness,the coupled model accurately predicted the time of exceeding safety thresholds,aligning with actual power outages and demonstrating the model's operational utility.关键词
