"第三空间"视域下外派中医师跨文化传播实践探析
Exploring the Intercultural Communication Practices of Expatriate Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors from the Perspective of the"Third Space":A Field Work Based on a TCM Overseas Center

Abstract
Expatriate Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)doctors,as the practitioners and disseminators,bear the important responsibility of spreading TCM culture.Through a field survey of a TCM overseas center in a European country,based on clinic observation and interviews with physicians and patients,the paper analyzes the medical practices of the expatriate TCM doctor in the clinical field from the perspective of intercultural communication.It is found that the expatriate TCM doctors usually adopt strategies to promote TCM culture,such as"building up the patients'trust and sense of identity by the efficacy of the treatment,accommodating communication styles according to the patients'individual differences,and understanding and respecting the patients'cultural frame of reference".In this regard,the patients show three attitudes toward TCM:full trust,curiosity,and hesitation.From the perspective of communication,expatriate TCM doctors and local patients jointly construct the"third space"of cultural hybridity,and the doctors'intercultural communication competence casts a crucial influence to the effect of TCM culture dissemination overseas.关键词
