Mechanisms and Interventions of Cold Stress-induced Thermogenesis in Brown Adipose Tissue of Lambs

Abstract
In the cold season of winter and spring,the mortality rate of newborn lambs due to poor thermoregulation,poor digestive function and low body immunity is high,which has become a key concern in the field of sheep breeding.When the ambient temperature is lower than the appropriate temperature range for lambs for a long time,the heat production and heat dissipation in lambs will be imbalanced,which leads to growth retardation,diarrhea and even death.Brown adipose tissue is an important organ for heat production and maintenance of body temperature balance in young animals,and it was found that moderate cold stress increases the content and activity of brown adipose tissue in lambs,thus maintaining their core body temperature in the normal range,and reducing the mortality rate of neonatal lambs at low temperatures.To this end,this paper mainly reviews the development and change rule of brown adipose tissue in lambs under cold stress conditions,the mechanism of heat production regulation,and the intervention of brown adipose tissue heat production to reduce the mortality of lambs in production,in order to provide a reference basis for the in-depth study of the thermogenesis of brown adipose tissue in lambs and its application in production.关键词
