Abstract
The homeostasis of intestinal structure and microbiota in cattle is crucial for normal nutrient metabolism and overall health.The liver plays a key role in maintaining this homeostasis,particularly in metabolizing and detoxifying natural and synthetic exogenous substances absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract.As large ruminants,cattle often ingest forages and feeds contaminated with heavy metal cadmium,posing a significant threat to their health.Currently,research has mainly focused on the harmful effects of cadmium on the intestines and livers of monogastric animals,with few systematic reports on the intestinal health and liver toxicity in cattle.This review systematically elucidates the mechanisms by which cadmium damages bovine intestinal health and how it is transported from the intestine to the liver,where it accumulates and induces hepatotoxicity.By providing a comprehensive analysis,this review aims to establish a theoretical foundation for mitigating the health risks posed by cadmium pollution in cattle,enhancing intestinal health,and advancing the understanding of liver toxicity and detoxification mechanisms in cattle.关键词
